This site is for beginner soap and lotion makers who want to learn the basics of making lotion, soap, and more.  It is also for people who simply want to know what goes into the products they purchase and how it's made.

I began as a lotion maker.  I spent a year perfecting my first recipe.  I found that there really wasn't a lot of information on the internet that went into sufficient details about lotion making.  I had a lot of batches that would not thicken enough and that separated.  I originally started by trying beeswax as my main emulsifier.  I found that my lotions tended to separate and felt rather tacky.  Although, I loved the qualities that beeswax would add to my lotion, it just wasn't for me.  I suspect with what I know today, I could make it work, but I am very happy with my current recipes.

I thought that soap making would be another challenge, but after having spent so much time learning about the qualities of different oils and essential oils from lotion making, it turned out to be quite easy.  I bought a book, searched a few websites and dove right in.  Please note, that safety is very important in soap making, so ensure that you have read all of the safety tips prior to making soap.

Other skincare recipes that I have made along the way include lip balms, salves, bath bombs, and more.  Once you try one thing, you just have to try them all.
